Special needs statement?
Very doubtful. They are not usually issued on a social basis but on all aspects as conducted by a multiple disciplinary team. Why don,t you speak to the head teacher at the special needs school and get some advice from him? Also it would be a good idea to visit the school and other main stream schools in your area. It maybe that there is a smaller mainstream with a religious ethic that might be better. Most important of all have you asked your son what he wants? He may feel happier going with his friends. I do wish you all the best with this and hope you can find a happy solution.
