Is a netbook right for me?

I was planning to buy a netbook but I don't know if its going to fit my lifestyle. I was planning on getting one of those Asus Seashell series from eeePC. I usually run programs like The Typing of the Dead, Pangya, Windows Live Messenger, Google Chrome, Firefox, Talesrunner, Mediago, AVG Anti Virus free or Norton Security Suite, and DVDVideoSoft. I HAVE to run these programs for school: Blender, Kompozer, and Openoffice.org. If a net-book can run these at good speeds (they don't have to be perfect) that would be great. I won't be running two of the programs at the same time but individually.
