Hit in face, sound coming from inside ear?

Hi. last week i got hit in the face and ear. for the first few days, there was loud ringing and temporary deafness. i went to the ER when it happened and the DR said my ear drum was okay. after a few days the deafness and ringing had died down, but in their place i am left with a sound coming from inside my ear. its a soft resonance type sound - almost like how you "hear the ocean" when you are holding a seashell up to your ear. sometimes during the day its louder, and sometimes softer. nothing makes it go away. if i put an ear plug in my ear, the sound is still there, so im assuming its something internal and not external sounds being distorted. the only thing that makes it quieter is if i clench my jaw. any help would be great. thanks.
