Why do Asians, on average, tend to be smarter/better workers?

Statistically, the most valued employees of most companies come from Asian countries. They also tend to perform better academically as compared to those of other races. I don't mean to stereotype or sound racist but do you know why this is? Does genetics come into play here? Or is it something in their culture?
